What We Provide

For 5-11 year olds

As a qualified primary school teacher, I can deliver lessons in English & maths for all primary school year groups. Each lesson is personalised to your child's ability and interests. Whether that's working towards Year 2 and Year 6 SATs exams, building confidence in maths or developing writing skills - at 'Learn with Lisa' all types of learners are catered for.

I believe that learning should be fun and hands-on, so (wherever possible) games and practical activities are planned into my lessons. This may be learning a new spelling rule, practising maths skills or creating silly sentences in grammar! See my gallery page for some examples of the activities used in lessons.

7+ and 11+ exams

I specialise in preparing students for primary and secondary entrance exams at both grammar school and private school level. Lessons cover all topics tested - English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning.

Exam formats differ slightly, so lessons will be tailored to the exam that students will be sitting. I have a vast bank of practise papers which are available for students to use.

I can also help students prepare for interviews, if their chosen school has a selection process.

Students of mine have passed exams for the following grammar and private schools:

  • Trafford Consortium (Sale, Stretford, Altrincham School for Girls)

  • Altrincham School for Boys

  • St Ambrose Catholic School for Boys

  • Manchester Grammar School (both 7+ and 11+)

  • Withington Girls School (both 7+ and 11+)

  • Manchester High School for Girls

  • Cheadle Hulme School

  • Stockport Grammar

Personalised service in your own home

It can often be daunting leaving your child with someone who is not part of your family. At Learn with Lisa, our ethos is that each child is treated with love and respect. Activities are child-led and will focus on what the child enjoys doing at home in a safe environment.

Childcare for your child/children is provided in your own home. I work with many families who need ad-hoc cover, for example if their normal childcare provider is unavailable or the child is unwell and can't attend nursery/school. Often, I will arrange to do trial hours before doing sole care. This is when I come to your house to interact and play with your child whilst you are home. This ensures that the child is comfortable around me, and you can be reassured that they are happy and safe in my care.

I am:

  • Ofsted Registered

  • On the DBS update service

  • First Aid trained

  • Able to accept tax-free childcare payments
